BEER RUNNERS
The Beer Runners movement emerged in 2007, when a group of runners crossed paths with a study conducted by University of Granada’s Professor Manuel J. Castillo-Garzón. This study concluded that beer would be a good source of antioxidants and vitamins after physical efforts. Thenceforth, the same group started running once a week and always ended the exercise sharing a beer.
In Spain alone the “Beer Runners” comunity has more than 28 thousand members divided in 78 different local groups. The movement is also growing in Denmark, Edinburgh, New York and Chicago.
Every participant that crosses the the finish line will be given the opportunity to taste two beers – one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic -, as well as lupins and dried fruits, in order to reestablish hidration and sodium levels.
